Abuja-Kaduna Train Services: NRC Set to Commerce Operation

Subsequent upon the completion of repair and safety works on the affected section of the rail track at Asham, the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, said in a statement on Saturday, September 27, 2025, that plans have been completed to resume operations of the Abuja-Kaduna passenger train services. 

It would be recalled that services on the route were temporarily suspended following the derailment of a passenger train on August 26, 2025.

This is contained in a statement released to the press by NRC spokesperson, Callistus Unyimadu.

The corporation noted in the statement noted that worked tirelessly to ensure that both the infrastructure and rolling stock are restored to the highest safety standards in line with global best practices. 

The corporation disclosed that it has regunded 512 passengers out of the 583 on board the train, adding efforts are underway to refund the remaing ones as part of its commitment to passenger welfare.

The Corporation expressed appreciation for the patience and understanding of its passengers, assuring members of the public of their safety, comfort and satisfaction which it said shall be accorded top priority.

While also acknowledging the invaluable support of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, security agencies, the media, and all other stakeholders during the period of recovery, it explained that details of the official resumption date and schedule will be communicated soon
