The Anambra State Police Command has stepped into the shocking murder of the President General of the Ogidi community, Idemili North council area of the state, Chief Ikwuka Okoye, and one other unnamed person. The incident, a police statement said, occurred Friday evening 6th February 2026, at the School Field, Ogidi.

Information made available to newsmen linked the killings to the recent capture and killing of an alleged notorious cultist, known well within Ogidi and environs simply as "Emma Amasco".

Command spokesperson, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, noted that investigations into the incident have commenced with detectives already working with eyewitnesses and other available intelligence reports to identify and arrest the perpetrators.

The Command assures the public that all efforts were being intensified to bring those responsible to justice, adding that residents should remain calm and cooperate with the police as investigations continue.

Ikenga assured that further developments would be communicated to the public in due course.

Witnesses who described Amasco as a popular man in the area, described him as the lead hitman for a named killer cult group. While hinting that a reprisal war might be in the office, they added that his group was responsible for the killing of Chief Okoye.
