Betara Shuns APC Zoning Arrangement
Declares bid for Speaker, House of Representatives.

Ahead the June 5 inauguration of the 10th House of Representatives, Hon Muktar Betara, house member representing Biu/Bayo/Shani and Kwaya Kusar Federal constituency, has declared his bid for the position of Speaker, House of Representatives, against the zoning arrangements put in place by his party, the All progressives Congress, APC.
Hon Betara made the declaration Monday, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, where he was joined by co-contestants, Ahmed Wase, Deputy Speaker, Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, Leader of the House, Sani Jaji and Tunji Olawuyi.
Others who were with the Borno South law maker include Rep member Umaro Bago and Niger state Governor-elect.
While reacting to the position of the party in backing Hon Abbas Tajudeen, APC, Kaduna, Hon Betara, head of the House Committee on Appropriation, said he is surprise that outgoing Speaker, Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila nominated the Kaduna law maker as his successor, vowing however, to continue his quest.
“If today, the Deputy Speaker is contesting, the Chairman of the Appropriation Committee is contesting, the Majority Leader is contesting, then who is closer to the Speaker,” he asked retorhically.
