Death of Minor: Anambra Police Arrest 40 Year-Old Father
*Alleges negligence and lack of care.
The Nigerian Police, Anambra State command, on Friday, arrested a 40 year-old father, Alfred Bassey, over alleged negligence and lack of care which resulted in the death of his 7-year old child.
Bassey, the command statement disclosed, was arrested by operatives of the 3-3 division headquarters following a report of the death of the minor.
He is said to have forcibly taken the minor from the mother and has since been living with him in an uncompleted building at the Trans-Nkisi Layout Onitsha.
Further investigations indicate that the lifeless body of the minor was found in a Soak-away pit at the uncompleted abandoned building on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
The minor was allegedly left there by the father for an unknown destination until his body was found and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
