Enugu Police Arrests Pedestrian Bridge Iron Rail Vandals
*Recovers firearm, ammunition from fleeing armed robbery suspects

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command Operatives have arrested three male suspects for vandalism of iron railings on pedestrian bridges across the city.
The suspects, Odeh Chijioke, 26; and Okwudili Onwe, 38 both of Isielu council area of Ebonyi state, and Igwe Chidera, 20, of Nkerefi, Nkanu East Council area also of Ebonyi state, were picked up by the operatives following a tip-off.
According to a statement made available to newsmen by the command spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the arrest of the suspects "...led to the of yet-to-be quantified pieces of iron rails vandalized at pedestrian crossing bridges at Holy Ghost/Ogbete Market...", the state capital.
and also recovered a firearm and ammunition in a different operation.
Similarly, operatives from the Awkunanaw division averted an alleged criminal operation while responding to a distress call over armed robbery operation in a compound in the town at about 10pm.
Whereas the robbers took to their heels on sighting the operatives, they however, left behind a locally fabricated double-barreled gun loaded with two (2) live cartridges.
While discreet investigations with the aim of apprehending the fleeing robbers enters top gears, the arrested iron rail suspects will be arraigned and prosecuted once the investigation is concluded.
Meanwhile, state police commissioner, Kanayo Uzuegbu, has commended citizens of the state for their unwavering support with information on criminal activities that made the operational successes possible. He, however, enjoined the people to continue supporting the command by promptly reporting suspected criminals and their activities to the nearest solice station.
