Ex Akwa Ibom Gov, Emmanuel Udom in EFCC Custody

Immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Udom Emmanuel, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Udom, FreshNews learnt, was placed in custody by the anti-graft commission at its Abuja headquarters about noon on Tuesday over alleged ‘N700bn fraud’
The former governor was at the EFCC office on invitation over his roles in an alleged money laundering deals, diversion of funds and stealing, all of which were leveled against him by a civil society organization, the Network Against Corruption and Trafficking, NCAT.
Among others, the former governor is said to have received N3trn from the Federation Account in eight years but left a debt profile of N500bn and another N300bn in unpaid ongoing projects just as he is said to have failed to account for anotherN700bn.
Although FreshNews sent enquiries to the anti-graft commission for comments on his arrest, the commission had not responded as at the time of filing the report.
