Father, Son, Hack Edo Mother of Four to Death

A man simply identified as Philip Ayo and his yet-to-identified son, on Saturday, hacked a mother of four, Mrs Nata Igbinovia, to death near Benin City, the Edo State capital.

The incident took place in Okpagha village, Uhunmwonde council area of the state, while she was attempting to intervene in a fight between the duo and a young man said to be related to her.

 Reports quoting Patience, the deceased’s daughter, say she was hacked to death with an axe.

“As he went to bring the small dagger, the son brought an axe that they usually use to split firewood. As he wanted to stab my cousin brother, my mom intervened, and that’s when the knife ended up in her hand.

“As my mom fell to the ground near their gate, the man took the axe and struck her back. While he was doing that, he took the opportunity to stab my mom in her side ribs,” she said adding that the culprits took to their heels upon noticing that the woman had given up the ghost.

One of the suspects is already in police custody.
