Governor Soludo's Administration Achieves 98% Completion of Urum-Amanuke-Achalla Road

From Omah Ngozi, Awka

The Anambra State Government, led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has reached a significant milestone in its infrastructure development efforts. The ten-kilometer Urum-Amanuke-Achalla road project has achieved 98% completion, transforming the once-neglected route into a modern, asphalted road.

During a recent visit to the site, Governor observed that asphalting had been completed from the Urum-Amanuke junction to the Awka North Secretariat in Achalla. The road features two large culverts, one at the Urum-Amanuke junction and another spanning the Eziukwuegbu River in Udezu village, Achalla.

A sturdy stone base has been laid beneath the four-inch asphalt layer, compacted to three inches for added durability. Local resident Mr. Edwin Orauno shared the road's history, dating back to 1976, when it was first promised by the then-military regime. Despite attempts by subsequent governors, including Jim Nwobodo and Peter Obi, the project remained incomplete until Governor Soludo's administration took office. Mr. Orauno expressed heartfelt appreciation to Governor Soludo for fulfilling the long-awaited promise, saying,

"He has wiped away our tears." Another resident, Mr. Chibuzo Esedo, highlighted the road's significance, stating that it now provides direct access to Awka, the state capital, and facilitates the transportation of farm produce to commercial cities, benefiting the predominantly farming community.
