Security Agents Burst Anambra Gun-Running Syndicate
*Intercept truck loaded with over 164,000 live cartridges.

Operatives of Sector, Operation Udoka, superintending security operations in parts of the South East have uncovered a gun-running syndicate operating in Onitsha, the commercial headquarters of Anambra state.
The operatives, in collaboration with colleagues from the 63 Brigade alongside members of the Department of State Services, DSS, intercepted a truck along Asaba-Onitsha Expressway on Thursday, May 29, 2025, leading to the discovery of the syndicate.
The truck, conveying a cache of live cartridges in excess of 164,000, neatly camouflaged in cartons with different labellings, was intercepted sequel to receipt of credible intelligence reports.
Security sources informed FreshNews that subsequent investigations led to the arrest of one Emeka Omenife, said to be the gun runner in-chief who was indeed in charge of moving the deadly cargo.
The arrested Omenife, who was immediately handed over to the DSS team, revealed that he was a member of an international arms and ammunition syndicate that operates between Nigeria and Ghana.
Information gleaned from him, led to the arrest another member of the syndicate, one Uchenna Obiora, who was picked up the next day at the Onitsha/Awka toll gate while waiting to take delivery of the cargo of death
