Sexual Abuse: You're Guilty As Alleged, Jurors Tell Trump

In what appears to be a legal setback for former American President, Donald Trump's 2024 re-election bid, Manhattan jurors on Tuesday found him guilty of sexually abusing magazine writer, E. Jean Carroll, in the 1990s.

The nine-member jury also found him guilty of defaming her by labeling her a liar.

In addition, the team also awarded $5 million in compensatory and punitive damages against the controversial former President.

He was however, not found guilty of rape even though finding him guilty of sexual abuse was enough to adjudge him culpable of battery.

Prior to reaching the verdict, the jury deliberated for under three hours before rejecting Trump's denial.

Made up of six men and three women, the jury was required to reach a unanimous verdict.

The 79 year-old Carroll testified in the course of the civil trial that Trump, 76, raped her in a Bergdorf Goodman department store dressing room in Manhattan in either 1995 or 1996, then harmed her reputation by writing in an October 2022 post on his Truth Social platform alleging that her claims were a "complete con job," "a hoax" and "a lie."
