Shakira To Face New Tax Probes in Spain
*As Esplogues de Llobregat court approves prosecutor's request for additional charges

Columbian-American singer, Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, better known as Shakira, will soon be facing multiple tax probes in Spain.
Even more, the international music star could be facing possible prison sentence if found guilty of the new charges, labelled as failure to pay 14.5 million Euros being tax accumulation over a three year period.
But the singer denied oweing any tax arrears, insisting that she was not in Spain over the period under review.
Indeed, Shakira’s tax probe seems to be coming in droves. On Thursday, an Esplugues de Llobregat court, northern Spain, approved a request by prosecutors to investigate two additional possible 2018 tax breaches against the singer, prior to the commencement of her November trial date.
Her legal team insists however, that she has not received any formal notification of the said charges, assuring that the probes will end in her favour.
“The singer’s legal team will not make any comment until the notification reaches her through the formal and legally established channels. Shakira is now based in Miami and she will have to be notified personally at her new address,
“As she has already stated on numerous occasions, Shakira asserts that she has always acted by the law and under the advice of the best tax experts. She is now focused on her artistic life in Miami and is calm and confident that her tax affairs will be resolved favourably,” Reuters reported.
Prior to her departure from Spain in April, 2023, Shakira was married to the country’s football star, Gerlad Pique.
