Alaafin: Owoade Receives Staff of Office
*Becomes 46th Alaafin.
The new Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade, on Monday receives his staff of office from Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde to mark his formal ascension to the new throne as 46th monarch to the renowned Oyo kingdom.
Oba Owoade received the traditional insignia in a brief ceremony conducted at the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, attended by traditional rulers, government officials, and other dignitaries, including enthusiastic indigenes of Oyo.
Gov Makinde who described the the new monarch as a leader well suited for the role, urged the new Oba to always strive to uphold the revered cultural values and historical heritage of the great Oyo Kingdom.
Gov Makinde described Oba Owoade as a leader well-suited to uphold the cultural and historical heritage of the Oyo Kingdom, noting that the Alaafin of Oyo is not just another traditional outfit but that of the custodian of a rich history and tradition.
He added that he is certain that Oba Woade will lead with wisdom, integrity, and a commitment to the unity of the entire Oyo kingdom.
In his response to the Governor's call, Oba Owoade expressed gratitude to the people of Oyo, pledging to prioritise the development of the kingdom, including the welfare of its residents.
