Anambra Police Arrest 16 Cultists

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command, have arrested 16 notorious cultist in Awka, the state capital following a decisive move by the command to end the resurgent cult-related killings in the city.

The Police, which tracked down and arrested the 16, said to be involved in recent cult-related mayhem, also declared no fewer than 21 others wanted.

The development is contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Awka on Saturday, by command spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu. 

The arrested cultists were nabbed following series of intelligence-led manhunt and are being detained on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, who vowed to ensure that cultists responsible for the spate of killings after the state capital had enjoyed tranquillity for unbroken 6 months period, must pay for their crimes. 

He has also charged the Special Anti Cult Squad, SPACS, to redouble its effort and hunt down those who are still at large among the identified cultists.

He enjoined community and religious leaders to speak out against the evil of cultism in the society
