Don't Panic, Tinubu Can Do It-HAI counsels Nigerians

A pro good governance group, Hope Alive Initiative, HAI, has urged Nigerians not to fret over ongoing insecurity challenges in the country. The group gave the advise in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday.

Speaking through its Director of Media and Communications, Ernest Omoarelojie, HAI noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has what it takes to sort out the CHALLENGES, a reason why Nigerians should have faith in his leadership.

"These are challenging times. But Nigerians are fortunate to have a resolute leader in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-bold and courageous enough to confront the challenges head-on. In time, the country will reap the result of his proactive leadership," HAI noted in its statement.

According to HAI, the president has both the capability and will to handle the challenge having demonstrated that he is “the man for these times" with the manner he responded with “clarity, decisiveness, and capacity.”

HAI noted that though the country was yet to completely get out of the woods, the President’s actions show preparedness and political will to address all challenges. It cited the president's reaction to the abductions in Kebbi, Kwara, and Niger states, which it maintained, led to the rescue of all the abductees in two states and recovery of over 50 in Niger State.

HAI also commended the President for halting his planned trips to South Africa and Angola for the G7 and African Union meetings to focus on domestic security, describing it as evidence of his commitment to citizens’ security above international engagements.

According to the statement, President Tinubu proved the seriousness he attached to solving the challenges by not only setting aside his scheduled foreign trip but also going head to establish a central coordination room to unify intelligence, military, police, and diplomatic operations under his direct leadership. This, the group said, made way for faster decision-making, aligned strategies, and rapid deployment of resources.

Among others, the group added that the President has maintained a firm grip on the matter bearing the dispatch with which he went ahead to declare a nationwide security emergency, authorise the recruitment of 50,000 new police officers, the redeployment of military personnel from ceremonial duties to active operations, and order the recall police of personnel attached to VIPs.

The steps, HAI emphasised, place the president as a leader to trust, as they are meant to enhance national security push, by intensifying both ground offensives and aerial surveillance.

“These measures show tangible security improvements and reinforce public confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership,” the statement said.

HAI also praised the administration’s diplomatic engagements, including the National Security Adviser-led mission to Washington and the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ consultations in Niger Republic, which it says strengthen regional intelligence-sharing and counter-terrorism cooperation.

The group pointed to reforms in the legal and judicial sectors, noting that the Nigeria Police Force prosecuted 29,052 violent criminals between 2022 and 2024, securing 16,200 convictions, adding that the National Human Rights Commission conducted 18 investigations and five prosecutions relating to religiously motivated attacks.
