Edo State Dep Gov Storms Out Of colloquium
Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, Rt Hon Philip Shaibu.

Edo Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Philip Shaibu, stormed out of the venue of the colloquium held to mark the 60th anniversary of the referendum that led to the formation of the old Midwest region.

The action which seems to be evident of the widening rift between him and his principal, Godwin Obaseki, took place Monday evening.

In a viral video that captured the incident, the deputy governor, who had no challenge gaining access to the hall, is however, taken aback following the refusal of the governor's security details to allow his (Shaibu's) aide-de-camp in.

He is heard insisting that his ADC must go in with him while the governor's details insisted he won't be allowed in

"He must go with me," Shaibu is heard saying, reaching out to take his ADC's hand in an attempt to have his way. But the governor's details held their ground, insist that it won't happen.

"No, he can't," the governor's lead detail is heard saying while physically Barring Shaibu's move but cordially addressing the deputy governor as "Your Excellency".

At a point, the deputy governor is heard asking a camera man to keep recording the unfolding drama, to which the main security replied "don't", without paying attention to whether or not the camera was still rolling.

Shortly afterwards, an official approach from the inside, to whom the deputy governor diverted his attention.

Some inaudible exchanges later, Shaibu is heard asking, "Shall we we go now", to which someone replied in the affirmative.

"Oya, let's go," he said as he led his team out of the venue.

He is later seen being ushered into his official car and storming out of the venue.
