Extra-Judicial Murder: Anambra Police Boss Orders the Arrest of Patrol Team Members

Anambra State Police commissioner, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has ordered the immediate arrest of members of a patrol alleged to be responsible for the killing of an unidentified individual along the onitsha/Owerri Road.

The development is contained in a statement issued by the command spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu on Tuesday.

The statement also disclosed that CP Itam ordered the murder case transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department for immediation action.

According to preliminary investigations, a corporal in the team, whose name was not disclosed, is alleged to have committed the crime.

While assuring that the public will be availed of further development in the case, the Commissioner sued for peace, noting that that the command will carry out a thorough investigation with a view to ensuring that those responsible for the act will face the course of justice.

Meanwhile, operatives of the command have arrested a member of a cross country Child Trafficking syndicate operating between Nigeria, Benin Republic and Ghana.

The yet-to-be identified suspect is alleged to be involved in trafficking victims within 13 and 26 year age bracket, was picked up following concerns raised by the commission, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, concerning increasing spate of reported Child Trafficking particularly within Okpoko, Onitsha, and environs.

One of the victims who was rescued has been rescued and safely returned from Ghana back to Nigeria and is currently being debriefed.

The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation at the state CID, SCID, in Awka, the state capital, with a view to rescuing other victims and arrest of other gang members
