Food Security: Ogbunka, Anambra Community Kicks Off Farming Season

Ogbunka community in Anambra State has kick started its 2025 farming season with the celebration of the year's Oganiru Festival.

The vibrant festival began with a general hunting expedition, followed by an inter-denominational church service to bless the farm tools, crops, and seeds for the year's cultivation.

Chief Jude Chukwubueze, President General of Ogbunka Development Union, emphasized the importance of unity and progress, urging the community to continue working together.

Chief Michael Ezenwa, Chairman of the Oganiru Festival 2025 Planning Committee, highlighted the significance of the event, stating that it's an opportunity to thank God and pray for blessings while encouraging youths to adopt a strong work ethic.

The festival, inherited from their forefathers, prepares the community for the farming season and serves as a call to action to combat hunger and contribute to food security.

The event featured various masquerades and cultural music, entertaining visitors at the Umunobe village hall in Ogbunka.
