Itam Takes Over as Anambra Police Boss
*Seeks support from citizens and residents.

Obono Nnaghe Itam, has taken over and assumed office as the new Anambra state Police commissioner.
The development is contained in a statement released by the command spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, on Tuesday.
The coming of Itam, who is the 34th police boss in the state, is coming on the heels of the retirement of the immediate past commissioner, CP Aderemi Adeoye, who was ushered out of service after giving 35 mandatory years of meritorious service to the force.
The new helsman was born in Yakkur council area of Cross River State on 16th June 1967, and enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police at the Nigeria Police Academy Annex Kaduna, in 18th May 1992.
He bagged a BSc in Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Calabar before moving on to obtain a Master's degree in International Relations from the University of Port Harcourt.
As a career police officer, CP itam, Psc, has served in various police formations across several states of the Federation. Notably, he held patrol and guard officer at Elimgbu Police Division, Rivers State, DPO Akamkpa Police Division, Cross River State, Divisional Police Officer, Export Processing Zones Authority, Calabar and Directing Staff and Instructor, Police Detective College, Agbani Road, Enugu.
He was once the Commanding Officer 25 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Head of the Counter-Terrorism and General Investigations, EFCC Lagos, Coordinator of Courses, EFCC Academy, Karu, Abuja, Zonal Director/Head of Operations, EFCC Port Harcourt and Director of Internal Affairs, EFCC Headquarters, Abuja.
While serving as a Deputy Commissioner of Police, he once coordinated the Police service delivery, SERVICOM, and was also the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Investigations Zone 11, covering Oyo and Osun State and Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations responsible for review and internal Security governance in cross river and Akwa Ibom State.
He was the Commissioner of Police, General Investigation, Force Criminal Investigation Annex, Kaduna, before his new duty call as Commissioner of Police Anambra state. CP Itam received specialized training, including the Advanced Detective Course, Police College Jos; Squadron Commanders Course, Police Moblie Force Gwoza, Ila Osun State; Tactical Leadership and Command Course, Police College, Jos; Canadian Police College Senior, and Lead Auditor Course, Servicom Nigeria in Kenya.
He is the proud recipient of several awards and honors, including the best-graduating Student in the Edanada Secondary School class of 1983, best graduating Student University of Calabar, Department of Sociology and Anthropology class of 1990, and the United Nations Medal of Service, 2002/2003.
An ordained Reverend gentleman of the Foundation Faith Church, Salem Family Worldwide, CP Itam has kicked off duties at his new command by calling on all residents of the state for maximum support and cooperation with a view to effectively combatting crime within the state.
He assured the people that he is committed to implementing proactive policing strategies and community policing to ensure a safer Anambra State.
