JUDICIARY: TIME TO DO RIGHT, FEAR NOT, NIGERIANS ARE BEHIND YOU - FABIYI

The National Conveyner, Nigeria Young Stakeholders Frontier, (NYSF) Oladimeji Fabiyi has urged the Nigerian Judges to be confident, bold, steadfast and do right in the judgements they will deliver at various tribunals across the country, aftermath the 2023 election, most especially the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

Fabiyi, in a statement released to the media in Kano said, I wish to encourage and appeal to the conscience of our Judges and the entire Nigeria Judiciary as an institution to be steadfast, courageous, fear not , do right this time around , make history in the interest of our democracy and country , while realising that the expectations of NIgerians are so high on them. Nigerians are ready to support and que behind them when justice is seen to be done.

To protect the sanctity of our democracy and unity as a nation , our judiciary has been called to task, they must justify and meet the aspirations of the good people of Nigeria. 

They must not allow over ambitious and shameless politicians to use them in achieving thier selfish agenda. They should not take the fall for these individuals who would go to any length to manipulate , blackmail, harass, threaten and intimidate them , these are the ready tools and weapon often employed by desperate, selfish , egoistic and irresponsible characters, succumbing to any or all of these always leads to eternal regret, long after they have left the office.

I was amazed to hear a testimony by the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar about many land mark judgements he secured while serving as Vice President, that today has enriched our case laws and jurisprudence but never bribed, lobbied or saw any judge to get those judgements. Where is that Judiciary? Fabiyi asked?

A lot of our justices at the bench and senior lawyers at the bar have succeeded in raising children who are today lawyers and are doing well, what legacy are they leaving behind for these children in the industry ? whereas in future the laws they made while in active service hunt their children. 

They should remember that the greatest and ultimate JUDGE is their creator who will in turn sit in judgement over them when they are helpless.

Whenever the executive is failing , the judiciary takes over running of the state by making judicial pronouncements that will reset the orders , Instill, foster hope and stabilise the country. 

I look forward to seeing a more confident , strong , fearless and pragmatic judiciary in our country.

Justice must at all times be seen to have been served regardless of whose ox is gored . Fabiyi Concludes.
