Pistorius May Regain Freedom on Friday
Blade runner, Oscar Pistorius, may be set free from prison on Friday

South Africa's Parole board will, after hearing on Friday, decide whether or not blade runner and Paralympic champion, Oscar Pistorius, has served the purpose of his imprisonment.
This was disclosed to Africanews on Thursday by spokesperson for the Department of Correctional Services, Singabakho Nxumalo.
"The board must determine whether the purpose of imprisonment has been served," Nxumalo said.
Following the outcome, the 36 year-old Pistorius, who shot and killed his then girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, a model, on Valentines Day 2013, may regain his freedom in a matter of days.
Pistorius pleaded not guilty to the act and denied that he killed budding model in a rage, insisting on mistaking her for a burglar.
He was found guilty and sentenced to 13 years imprisonment after a trial that held global audience spell-bound for as long as it lasted.
Part of the South African parole requirements is that offenders are eligible for privilege haven spent half of their given sentence.
Pistorius, who was sentenced in 2014, is thus qualified for parole haven spent more than half of his 13-year sentence.
As part of the process recommended by authorities to ensure inmates "acknowledge the harm they have caused to their victims and the society at large", the Para-Olympic champion met with the parents of his victim last year.
The parents are also expected to "make representations to the parole board" by being present at the hearing.
But Reeva's father is not expected at the meeting as he is said to be unable to travel for health-related reasons.
"They are going to make their submissions. And then obviously, the law will take its course," Tania Koen, the family's attorney said.
