Sudan’s Top General Says Military is Committed to Transition to Civil Rule
Sudan’s Gen Abdel Fattah Burhan, says he is Committed to Transition to Civil rule.

Sudan's army chief Gen Abdel Fattah Burhan, has said that the military remains committed to the country's transition to civil rule.
Gen Burhan made the disclosure in a video message on Friday to mark Muslim's Eid el Fitri.
It was his first speech since fighting broke out between his forces and those of the country’s paramilitary forces last week.
“We are confident that we will overcome this ordeal with our training, wisdom and strength, preserving the security and unity of the state, allowing us to be entrusted with the safe transition to civilian rule," he said.
Alongside his rival, Gen. Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, who commands the Rapid Support Forces, RSF, Gen Burhan, who took over power in October 2021, has consistently maintained the promise to sheperd the country until constitutional democracy takes effect. Thus far however, no concrete step has been taken to sign any political agreements required for the outcome.
Meanwhile, the military has ruled out any negotiations with the rival Rapid Support Forces, insisting that it is aiming only for a total surrender.
