Allow This Reckless Rivers State of Emergency to Stay At Your Own Peril- Fabiyi Tells PDP Govs, National Assembly Members

A stakeholder of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. Oladimeji Fabiyi, has expressed his disappointment over the declaration of State of emergency on Rivers State.

He made this known in a statement released to newsmen on Thursday.

Fabiyi condemned the action of President Tinubu in strong terms saying it was in bad faith, shallow minded, deliberate injustice and show of desperation by the President. Fabiyi further noted It is no more news that President Bola Tinubu has taken an irresponsible action capable of destroying our democracy by a reckess pronouncements of State of Emergency on Rivers State.

While reiterating that the state that has been embroiled in struggle for political control between the State Governor Sim Fubara and former Governor Nyesom Wike an avowed agent of President Tinubu and the APC, he explained that Wike was under the President's mandate to destroy the People’s Democratic Party at all cost.

According to him, instead of honestly and genuinely finding an amicable resolution of the crisis, the President chose to take side as evident in his recent nationwide broadcast indicates. 

"It was a confirmation of his ignoble plans towards the 2027 Presidential Election. This irresponsible declaration has not only met widespread criticisms and condemnations, it has also been greeted with bad press.

"My message to the PDP Governors forum and National Assembly opposition members is that if truly they are not clandestinely working for Tinubu, this is the time to rise up and ensure that the State of Emergency do not stay as doing so will be at their own peril.

"After Rivers, Tinubu is coming for them which will be so unfortunate and devastating for our democracy, the more reason it must not be allowed to pass.

"The recent statement of the Attorney General of the Federation is a pointer to this fact . Tinubu will not only use this tool to intimidate the Governors but also use it to cage and whipping them to support and work for him in 2027.

"It is sad, that President Tinubu is gliding the country to a state of Anarchy and getting desperate by the day which has led him to the declaration of State of Emergency in Rivers but has forgotten the importance of Rivers State to Nigeria economy.

"Now that the battle has shifted to the National Assembly, all opposition members at both chambers have a duty to stop this intentional injustice against the good people of Rivers State by voting against it and be ready to proceed on impeachment of the President for swearing in a Sole Administrator before the decision of the National Assembly as required by the constitution," Fabiyi concludes.
