Anambra Police Smashes Armed Robbery Gang
*Recovers 2 AK47 Rifles, ammunitions.
Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command's Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, foiled a robbery operation, along Ebenebe-Achalla Road, Awka council area on Monday.
The operatives, who were on an anti kidnapping patrol, were tipped off by a public spirited citizen who saw two gun men being conveyed on a motorcycle along the road.
Following the lead, the operatives went in pursuit of the gang and encountered them where they had positioned to rob mororists.
On sighting the approaching operatives, the gang members engaged them in a shootout. However, they were overpowered by the battle-ready operatives forcing the gang m to abandon their weapons and fled into surrounding bushes.
Subsequently, the operatives combed the bushes and and recovered two AK-47 Rifles loaded with several rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and shells of expended rounds.
