Israel Bombs Gaza Hospital, Hundreds Killed
*Denies responsibility, points accusing fingers at Hamas.
Reports say the Baptist Hospital, Southern Gaza, was late Tuesday, hit by a blast, following massive bombardments by Israeli military that left hundreds of casualties.
Palestinian Health Ministry officials say the strike killed at least 500 people. According to its spokesperson, Ashraf Al-Qudra, death toll from the incident is so far the highest single day disaster in the city since the beginning of the current face-off.
Al-Qudra added that hundreds have been killed even as health workers are still removing bodies from the rubbles.
But in a swift reaction, the Israeli military denied responsibility, insisting that the blast is the result of a misfired Palestinian rocket. Prime Minister, Benjamin Natanyahu, who corroborate the Israeli army's claim, insisted that his country is not responsible for the incident which he described as barbaric tertorists' attack.
Meanwhile, global reaction has teed off following the incident late Tuesday.
Reports say protests are already ongoing both in Istanbul and Amman, with the Palestinian health minister, Mai Alkaila, accusing Israel of massacre.
Following the deadly blast, the Jordanian government has withdrawn from its scheduled meeting with US President, Joe Biden, already on a solidarity visit to Israel.
Jordanian Foreign minister, Ayman Al-Safadi, who made the disclosure, said his country decided to pull out of the planned summit with Biden alongside Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas, Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah el-Sissi and Jordan's President King Abdullah because the summit is not capable of stopping the crisis.
Al-Safadi promised however, that Jordan will continue to work with all stakeholders to ensure that an end can come to the conflict and the much needed humanitarian services are delivered to the people without hindrance.
The Palestinian authority has also confirmed it will distance itself from any meeting with Biden, citing the Gaza hospital incident.
Reports also indicate that President Biden is outraged over the hospital blast. Biden, who was billed for a scheduled meeting with leaders of Palestine, Egypt, Jordan and other regional leaders, said he was saddened and outraged over the deadly strike without blaming any of the parties in the conflict.
In his reaction, UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, condemned the attack on Baptist hospital, describing it as an outrage.
"I am horrified by the killing of hundreds of Palestinian civilians in a strike on a hospital in Gaza today, which I strongly condemn," Gueterress posted on his "@antonioguterres X handle on Wednesday
