Crime: Anambra Police Record Another Breakthrough, Arrest One Notorious Suspect
*Recovers AK47 Rifle.
Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command, attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad Enugu-Ukwu, have arrested an alleged notorious criminal who has been on the wanted list.
The suspect, identified as Miracle Mwakalor, a native of Umubele village, Awka South Council Area of the state, was arrested Friday, following the receipt of credible intelligence. The 18 year-old suspect was nabbed with an AK47 Rifle and a magazine neatly tucked away inside the ceiling of an apartment
In a statement made available to newsmen in Awka, Command spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, disclosed that the operatives invaded a criminal hideout where the suspect alongside other gand members were planning a scheduled Saturday raid in Nibo, Awka South Council area. While Miracle was nabbed, his other accomplices managed to escape from security dragnet.
"Miracle was apprehended but his other gang members escaped. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and led the Operatives to an apartment at Ubuofu Awka, where they hid the recovered rifle in the roof," the statement read in part.
It added that efforts are in gear to apprehend other fleeing gang members.
