ex-EFCC Boss, Lamorde Dies At 61

Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, Ibrahim Lamorde, is dead, FreshNews can report.

Though details of his illness and death are yet to be made public, the FreshNews learnt the former Anti-Corruption Czar passed away in Egypt.

He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1986 where he retired as a Deputy Inspector General, DIG, in 2021.

He reigned as EFCC helsman between 2011 and 2015 as successor to Farida Waziri. 

It would be recalled that Lamorde was appointed to head the EFCC in an acting on November 3, 2011. His appointment followed the removal of Waziri by the Goodluck Jonathan afministration.

He was subsequently confirmed as substantive Chairman on February 15, 2012.

He was a pioneer Director, Operations, when the ant-graft agency was created in 2003, Lamorde rose to become Acting Chairman in January 2008.
