Gunmen invade Lilu Again

For the umpteenth time, Lilu community, Ihiala council area of Anambra state, has come under attack As it has always been in the last five years.

The recent attack saw the unchallenged attackers moving from house to house, cartering away any valuable in sight, including food stuffs and even domestic animals.

According to the monarch, Igwe Godson Onyediri, the thieves, who acted in gorilla-styled tactics, invaded the community and carted away every available valuables in sight. The development, he said, was not surprising but noted that their days are now numbered. Security agents, including the police, army and operatives of the DSS, are according to the monarch, now on the tails of the hoodlums who, in their latest attack, also carted away bags of rice and other palliative donated to the ravaged community by the Chief Executive of Air Peace airline, Chief Allen Onyema, a native of neighboring community, Mbosi.

Locals told FreshNews that the renewed may not be unconnected with the effect of the counter measures put in place by the Lilu Youth Development Forum, LYDF, which seems to have cut them off from food supply. The measures followed the resolution taken at the recently held conference themed-Productive Youths, Peaceful Community". 

Implementation of the resolutions, according to security sources, badly distorted the bandits' supply route and movement that they now resorted to gorilla-styled operations due largely to initial fear and reluctance of the people. 

While reacting to the spare of attacks, the monarch of the community, Igwe Godson Onyediri, was brought to tears as he vowed to see to the end of the unceasing raids. It would be recalled that as part of measures to rein in the hoodlums, the community held a conference in Ihiala to discuss the master.

The outcome, this medium learnt, is alrwading bearing fruits as partners from home and abroad are already lined out with investments designed to help turn the community's economy around.

FreshNews also learnt that the sustained pressure mounted on the hoodlums by the youths of the community, including security surveillance, is yielding fruits. The youths, the medium learnt, are now coming surrounding bushes to flush out the undesirable elements.
