Murder of 84 Year-Old: Shock, Grief And Silence Descend on Awka Community

The usually tranquil Umudioka Awka community in Awka South Local Government Area was plunged into an unsettling silence following the gruesome discovery of Chief Michael Nwobu's lifeless body on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
The 84-year-old octogenarian had been brutally stabbed multiple times.
According to eyewitnesses, Chief Nwobu had begun his day in high spirits, watching his wife prepare for Sunday service before she departed at 7 am. However, just an hour later, his lifeless body was found, riddled with stab wounds.
The Secretary of Ndichie Umudioka Awka, Mr. Nwobu Nweke, and the Chairman of Ulonese Umudioka Awka, Mr. Fidelis Nwokike, vehemently condemned the heinous act, attributing it to unknown perpetrators.
They revealed that a formal report had been lodged with the relevant authorities, with hopes that the culprits would soon be apprehended.
The Youth Chairman, Mr. Christopher Uzoh, and a relative of the deceased, Mr. Emeka Nnaemeka, echoed the call for justice, seeking swift action from law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to book.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, indicated that he had yet to receive official records of the incident, and therefore, could not provide further comment at the time of filing this report
