Okija Murder: Anambra Police Begins Investigation

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have commenced investigations into the Sunday (19-05-2024) brutal murder of the Secretary of Okija Development Union, Barr Peter Awah.
The development is contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Awka by the command spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, on Monday.
Barr Awah was mowed down at about at Eke Umudioka, Okija by alleged assailants operating on motor bikes.
"The Command Operatives have begun an investigation into the murder of Barr. Peter Awah, Secretary of Okija Development Union yesterday 19/5/2024 by 11:00 pm at Eke Umudioka, Okija," the statement read in part.
Eye witness account say Barr Awah was shot while trying to alight from his car.
FreshNews learnt that he was approached by the killers and subsequently shot just as he attempted to escape from the assassin's.
"...Preliminary Information reveals that the assailants operating in motorbikes, shot the deceased as he was about to alight his vehicle for safety when he was approached by the Murderers."
While commiserating with the friends, colleagues and family of the late lawyer, state police boss, Nnaghe Obono Itam, promised to bring his murderers to justice. He also directed that the case be transferred to the Homicide department of the Criminal Investigation Department, CID, Awka, with immediate effect.
