Rape: Lagos Dr Bags Life Sentence
*Over alleged Rape of wife's niece.
A Lagos based medical practitioner, Dr Doctor Olufemi Olaleye, has been sentenced to life in prison for raping wife's niece.
The verdict was handed on him by the Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, sitting in Ikeja on Tuesday.
Dr Olaleye, the Medical Director of Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, was committed to prison after being found guilty by the court of defilement and sexual penetration of the 15 year-old minor.
Justice Rahman Oshodi, who gave the sentenced after finding him guilty of the offence, held that the prosecution successfully proved its case beyond reasonable doubt, adding that all the evidence before the court corroborated that of the victim.
Dr Olaleye was arraigned on a two-count charge, including defilement and sexual assault by penetration of his wife’s niece, charges that were preferred against him by the Lagos State Government.
