Two Robbery/Rape Suspects in Anambra Police Net
*Three locally made guns, six live ammunition cartridges, motorcycle recovered from them
Two robbery/rape suspects were on Friday nabbed by operatives of the Anambra Police Command. The duo, long on the command’s wanted list over alleged rape and armed robbery, were arrested with two locally fabricated double-barrel guns, one single barrel gun, six cartridges and an operational motorbike.
In a release made available by command spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu on Saturday, Chukwuma Diji, aka Sympathy, or Chi-Boy, 35 Chukwuma Diji, from Obinagu Umudu village, Udi council area of Enugu State, and Michael Edochie, aka, Mikel, 31 of Eziabunadu, Abagana, Njikoka council area of Anambra state, are alleged to have violated one married woman at Obinagu Abagana in 2023 before fleeing the community afraid of being arrested.
They are also alleged to have broken into an apartment belonging to a young lady and subsequently raped her and her friend at gun pon point on June 6, 2024. Thereafter, they allegedly forced one of the victims to transfer money to an account.
The release also noted that the suspects have confessed to the crimes.
State police boss, Nnaghe Obono Itam, has ordered that their case be transfered to the State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, with immediate effect.
