Police Arrest Gun Runner in Onitsha, Recover 375 Live Cartridges

In what appears to be a running string of operational success, operatives of the Anambra Police Command on Sunday, 15 June 2024, intercepted one Felix Owaya, along Niger street, Onitsha, the commercial headquarters of the state.

Felix, who was intercepted by the operatives on a routine patrol, was also found with three hundred and seventy-five (375) rounds of live cartridges.

The 48 year-old suspect from Ika South council area of Delta state, has, according to a release made available to newsmen on Monday by command spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, has confessed that he was sent by one Mr Charles Ogboma to a man he is yet to identify, from whom he collected the ammunition.

Less than 24 hours earlier, the command paraded two armed robbery/rape suspects who have been visiting sexual nightmare on unsuspecting women in parts of the state.

The duo, 35 year-old Chukwuma Diji, alias Sympathy or Chi-boy, and Micheal Edochie, 31, aka Mikel, were nabbed by operatives of the command and found with two locally fabricated double barrel guns, one single barrel, also locally made, six live cartridges and an operational motorcycle.

Other suspects intercepted by the command include several alleged armed robbers, insurgents and gun runners.
