UNIZIK Expels TikTok-Confused Female Student for Attacking Lecturer

The Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, has expelled a female student who fought and inflicted bodily wound on one of its lecturers.

The student, Goddy-Mbakwe Precious, a 3rd year History and International Studies student, iwas seen in a viral video slapping the university staff, Dr Chukwudi Okoye, of the Department of Theatre and Film Studies.

In an expulsion letter dated 13 February 2025, the university noted that the expulsion became imperative due in the main to its aversion to the violation of its extant regulations.

In a release. the University noted that both the lecturer and student were given fair hearing by its disciplinary committee during which it thoroughly reviewed the action of the student to ascertain the level of her infraction described as gross misconduct.

"Based on the committee's findings and recommendations, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof Joseph I. Ikechukwu, on behalf of the University Senate, has approved the immediate expulsion of Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka," the statement, signed by Njelita Louis O. read in part.
