Anambra Police Intercept Armed Men In Umuchu, Recover One Suspected Stolen Vehicle, Other

The Anambra State Joint Security Team, in the early hours of Thursday intercepted armed men sighted long the Umuchu- Amesi-Uga Road. 

The team also recovered one branded blue Hilux vehicle with Plate Number: GDD 440 TJ, suspected to have been snatched from an unsuspecting member of the public prior to the interception.

According to a released signed by command spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, the armed were trailed following a foiled attack on a Police check point at Ajali, Orumba North council area of the state. In the course of the attack, one police personnel and a member of the Anambra Vigilante Group, AVG, sustained gunshot wounds.

They are said to be responding to treatment in an undisclosed hospital. 

However, two operational vehicles belonging to the AVG were torched and completely razed. 

The statement disclosed that joint security operations are still ongoing in the affected areas. It assured that further developments would be communicated.
