SGF pledges radical reforms to boost transparency, efficiency in public service

Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has pledged to implement comprehensive e-governance reforms to enhance transparency and efficiency in Nigeria’s public service.
These reforms align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and focus on eight priority areas: reforming the economy, strengthening national security, improving governance, accelerating diversification through industrialization and digitalization, and boosting agriculture for food security.
At the Nigeria Govtech Conference and Awards in Abuja on Thursday, the SGF, represented by Barrister Olusegun Adekunle, emphasized the federal government’s commitment to digitalizing its operations to create a more transparent and efficient public service.
According to Akume, the e-governance agenda prioritizes digital transformation, robust ICT infrastructure development, and innovative policies to enhance public service delivery.
He explained that digital platforms will improve social investment initiatives, skill development, entrepreneurship training, and access to financial services.
Akume stated, “One of the primary goals of this administration is to improve public service delivery and ensure that government services are accessible, transparent, and effective. To achieve this, we must continue to invest in the digital transformation of our public institutions, support the development of robust ICT infrastructure, and promote policies that encourage innovation and the use of emerging technologies in governance.
“In line with these priorities, we have made significant strides in integrating technology into governance, ensuring that digital transformation is at the core of our national development strategy. This unique gathering provides a strategic platform for engagement, collaboration, and deliberation on harnessing technology to transform governance and service delivery across the country.”
